Every piece that leaves our hands was chosen to become part of your life for a long time — not just a season. So we wanted to sit down and tell you, honestly and simply, how to look after whatever you've chosen, whatever it's made of.
If you chose something from Cuir — our genuine leather line
Real leather ages the way good things do: with character. Keep it out of direct sun and away from rain, wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth after use, and every so often, treat it to a little leather conditioner. It'll thank you for years.
If yours is vegan leather or suede
These pieces love a little tenderness too — just a soft, slightly damp cloth is enough to keep them looking new. Try to keep them out of long hours in direct sun, as it can gently shift the color over time.
If you fell for one of our acrylic or hardware pieces
These are the pieces with a little sparkle and structure, so treat them gently — a dry, soft cloth for dusting is all they need. Skip water and cleaning products, which can dull that beautiful finish, and let the pouch we send it in be its home when it's resting.
If yours is straw, crochet, or hand-woven
These pieces carry warmth in their texture, so handle them with care — keep them dry, store them somewhere they can keep their shape, and avoid folding them tightly, which can crease the weave.
If you chose cotton or canvas
These are our sturdiest, most easygoing pieces — spot clean with a damp cloth for everyday marks, and let them air dry naturally.
If yours is velvet or corduroy
These pieces have a softness worth protecting — brush gently in the direction of the nap with a soft cloth, avoid soaking them, and keep them away from anything sharp that could catch the texture.
If you chose something plush, or with faux shearling
Hold it the way you'd hold something soft and dear — a gentle brush to keep it fluffy, and keep it away from moisture so it stays as soft as the day it arrived.
If yours is knitwear, wool, or one of our sweaters
These pieces prefer a gentle hand — fold rather than hang, to keep their shape, and if it ever needs cleaning, a gentle hand-wash or a trusted dry cleaner will treat it right.
And for everything else — our polyester, chiffon, and everyday fabrics
A gentle machine wash on a cool, delicate cycle keeps these pieces looking as beautiful as the day you chose them.
A few small habits that help everything we make, no matter what it's made of: store it away when you're not wearing or carrying it, let it breathe rather than sealing it in plastic, and treat it the way you'd treat something someone chose for you with love — because that's exactly what it is.
Maison Maryim — elegance, uninterrupted.
